The therapeutic benefits of essential oils combined with regular treatments can help to relieve daily pressures and maintain a healthier wellbeing.
Essential oils are used in most of our Therapies to enhance the treatment.
Need to relax and ease those general aches & pains, then this massage is ideal to do just that.
Using a blend of essential oils and a combination of techniques and pressure, Holistic Massage boosts the circulation allowing the body to unwind and become more relaxed.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage treats musculoskeletal issues and chronic tension, ideal for tight areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness and sore shoulders.
This treatment begins with a lighter pressure in preparation to warm up the muscles and manipulate the soft tissues ready to target the inner layers of muscles and connective tissues using hands, knuckles, forearms and elbows.
By applying sustained pressure with slow, deep massage techniques, automatically stimulates the circulation, freeing up tension held in the muscles, easing symptoms of chronic aches and pains.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is the application of smooth heated stones used by the therapist to relax the body quicker than using massage strokes alone.
Basalt stones are professionally used during a hot stone massage, these volcanic stones have a rich iron content that retains heat. The weight and warmth of the stones felt on the skin immediately relaxes the body and eases muscles tension.
An optional application of cold marble stones can be included mid-way through the treatment, this causes a circuit of hot and cold which stimulates the circulation and reinvigorates the body.
Massage oil is used in conjunction with the stones throughout the treatment.
You don’t have to be an athlete, gym goer or fitness enthusiast to have a Sports Massage.
Incorporating stretches and specific techniques of manipulation, trigger points, muscle energy and deep tissue work, Sports Massage helps improve flexibility, ease strenuous muscles and increase range of motion.
Regardless if you lead an energetic or more sedentary life, Sports massage is extremely beneficial for anyone experiencing discomfort or tension.
Training for an event:
Each part of the feet represents a specific Reflex area which mirrors the corresponding area of the body. For example the big toe represents the Head reflex area, so it may prove beneficial to apply reflexology to the big toe to ease a headache.
When specific techniques and pressure is applied to these reflex areas it stimulates the functionality of all the systems within the body.
Areas of tenderness or sensitivity can be an indication for the Reflexologist to work these points a little longer in order to release this area of tension.
Reflexology is a non-intrusive treatment and ideal for all ages.
REFLEXOLOGY DURING PREGNANCY
Maternity Reflexology benefits a woman throughout her pregnancy; regular treatments help to support the body as it adapts and changes during each stage of pregnancy. Reflexology is known to reduce tension and anxiety, while pregnancy can be a stressful and worrying time for a mother-to-be, Reflexology adds calm and relaxation benefiting the expectant mother & baby.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)
This is a researched based practise using specific reflexology techniques to promote Lymph Drainage in the body via the feet.
RLD stimulates the lymphatic system and works to reduce lymphoedema following treatment for breast cancer.
The technique was devised by Sally Kay who researched and developed RLD whilst working in Cancer Care.
Focusing specifically on the lymphatic system with RLD has shown to also have a positive effect on other (non-cancer related) common conditions and inflammatory auto-immune disorders:
This 90 minute treatment focuses on the feet & lower legs: Structural Reflexology® aims to release muscular tension and induce foot stability and mobilisation, allowing the foot bones to settle back into their structural position with improved functionality.
“Trademarked in 2013 by Geraldine Villeneuve Structural Reflexology® is the practice of integrating foot reflexology with anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology by using local and reflexive methods to release stress and compensation in the entire body.
Structural Reflexology® addresses tension sites on the feet as the product of local muscle and ligament strain while maintaining an understanding of how these sites of tension on the feet will impact the rest of the body.
Benefits of Structural Reflexology®
Reflexology and Meridian Therapy
Reflexology was founded from the ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It was developed first into what was known as zone therapy, recognising five defined sections on the feet, that when stimulated have a positive impact on the body. This practise was researched and developed into what we now treat as Reflexology.
With Inge Dougans Meridian Therapy, we concentrate on specific areas of the feet that will trigger a reaction along the identified Meridian Line. This causes an automatic response on the body with a profound effect to release the body’s own healing potential.
The Meridian pressure is an instant boost of energy to jump start the body and kick in a healing reaction.
This treatment is 10 - 15 minutes of Meridian Therapy followed by 45 minutes of reflexology.
